I was born in North Devon and graduated from Canterbury College of Art with a 1st class Hons degree in Graphic Design. I worked as a designer at The Natural History Museum, London, for three years, freelanced in Brighton for five, then returned to Devon to raise a family. A busy time followed, with a husband, three children, freelance work, teaching art and design and running workshops, including several at The Eden Project. I discovered batik in my first year at art college and I loved the freedom it gave me to create layers of pattern and texture. As each piece of work is unique, the design process can be time consuming, but extremely satisfying nevertheless! I am inspired by literature, fairy tales, poetry, the natural world and personal memories of a Devonshire childhood.
