I studied ceramics in Portsmouth and went on to work in various potteries until setting up on my own in Lincolnshire in 1980. Teaching part time in colleges has been an important aspect with regards to my own work, the necessary repetition of production pottery can easily kill off the creative process and working with students is the easiest way to revitalise it. I now teach from my own workshop here in North Devon and run Welcombe Pottery with Alice.
I studied fine art at Farnham and have always had an interest in ceramics. After a ceramic course in North Wales where I met David we set up our own pottery in Cumbria. In 1994 we took over Welcombe Pottery in North Devon. In the last four years I have been making Raku clocks, tiles, mirrors and plaques decorated using hedgerow plants.
