About Appledore
We are based in the heart of the lively port of Appledore – a traditional North Devon fishing village with a thriving artistic community.
There are many studios and craft shops dotted amongst the small winding lanes.
Members of The Appledore Crafts Company produce a wide range of work including metal sculpture, studio pottery, lino-cut prints, glass, ceramics, textiles, hand-made books, photography, furniture and jewellery.
In addition to the regular display of contemporary craft, The Appledore Crafts Company also holds occasional exhibitions.
A UNESCO BIOSPHERE
Appledore is an important meeting place of rich natural and cultural heritage in a stunning, diverse landscape in the heart of South West England.
A picturesque fishing port at the mouth of the river Torridge in North Devon. The old village of Appledore is a maze of narrow lanes running down to a long quay that follows the estuary towards the open sea. Appledore also sits within the UNESCO North Devon Biosphere Reserve, a suberb natural environment which stretches from Dartmoor and Exmoor to Lundy Island.
Over the years many artists and craftspeople have settled in Appledore and the village has become a hub of artistic activity. In addition to the numerous studios and galleries, there are a wide variety of events throughout the year.
