A bit about me
Having originally done a degree in ceramics in the last five years or so I have discovered a love of using willow to create forms and structures. Willow is strong, flexible and satisfying to work with. It offers a range of textures and colours, and lends itself to numerous possible beautiful shapes. I enjoy making basket vessels which are both practical and appealing shapes. I have been exploring a range of traditional methods making shoulder and larger baskets, and a style called Zarzo of more open formed baskets.
I currently source willow from the traditional growers/sellers in Somerset, and have created my own sustainable willow growing beds at home in Devon which I hope to start cropping and using from 2023.
I’m always keen to learn and expand my knowledge, and am undertaking a City & Guilds course in basketry in 2021.
