A bit about me
I was brought up on Scotland’s Ayrshire coast and studied ceramics at the Glasgow School of Art. While I was a student, I discovered the Beast Epic of Reynard the Fox, a character was can be traced back to Aesop’s fables but who enjoyed much popularity in Medieval Europe. In the Reynard stories, animals act out human characters and scenarios and this has been the basis for my imagery over the years.
My work is figurative and decorative, it is handmodelled, decorated with slips, underglaze colours, lustres and gold. It undergoes three firings, the highest being 1260C. I moved to North Devon in 1990 and I am an elected member of Make Southwest.
